True West
I loved the movie true west. I thought it was very original and at times very humorous. While watching the movie I would have never made the connection to the metamorphasis. But looking back on it I see that they really switch roles. I found it very interesting how the play included modernism in it like kunkle said. Like why does the mom come home with thinking that picaso is in town? Mainly why picaso. Overall I think that it is a great play that should be continued to be played. I think one thing that i would like to see is a movie on metamorphasis and compare it with the true west movie.

I really enjoyed True West as well. It's obviously packed with energy and extremely loud, but I think the characters actually do say some really profound things amidst their yelling and ha,ha,haaaaaaa-ing.
ReplyDeleteI had never thought of it, but a movie for Metamorphosis is a really interesting idea. It would be really cool to see all of the dynamics of the book play out on screen.
Lee was absolutely hilarious in my opinion and interacted really well with Austin. The friction between the brothers was the focal point of the movie because both of them had interesting characteristics to say that least. I don’t know if I ‘d be able to see anyone else play the role as well as Malkovich did but I would like to see another version and see if it’s equally as rewarding.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to your siuation as well michael. I had no idea how metamorphasis had to do with this play but it made sense at the end. Its interesting to see how each character pretty much switches to the other's position exactly. It was odd that Piscaso was involed in the play too, something to ponder on i guess, but overall i really enjoyed True West as well. What abou the title True West? hmmm
