college lit experience
Overall college lit was a great experience. The experience will help me in the future with college classes at Iowa. I am not a big fan of english classes and I actually enjoyed this class. I liked reading all of the different books and I found that it was very enjoyable. I would not change anything about this class because it was perfect the way it was. Mr. Kunkle always kept it interesting and I kept wanting to learn. Although, I didn't always see connections that he made to some books. I can't wait to take the skills that Mr. Kunkle taught me out and to the next level.

Persepolis
While after the first two readings of persepolis, I find myself very bored. I am not a big fan of graphic novels. Frankly I think the whole first revolution of iran reminds me of the dirty war in Argentina. Where they killed and tortured everyone who went againts the government. I am not a fan of persepolis as of right now. I hope it will get better. Now it seems very emo and sad. I hate sad books and emo books. The only find interesting is how the daughter will believe what anyone says to her. She is so gulable and doesnt have any personal beliefs.

Momento CD
I believe momento is a large story of Cognitive Dissonance. He has this motivation to kill John G at any stakes. He will rationalize his behavior over and over agian. He can forget about his wrong doings and then rationalize his behaviors again. For example he is not content in the end by killing jimmy. He is told the truth by teddy and rationalizes in his truck to forget about it. So he burns the pictures so he can start a new hunt over. Also is the story with his wife. He possibly makes up the story about how sammy jenkins killed his wife, while it was his in reality he just rationalized that to not remember and move on. So there will be no end to this movie if it kept going on. He would just keep rationalizing his behavior for killing other John G's.
War Movies
Saving Private Ryan is just about the only war movie I have seen. In this movie, a group of men set out to get Private Ryan while they fight against a foriegn country. It was the battle of Normandy in world war 2.
I think this is saying that war is very grusome and unforgiving. Like the scene where the sniper shoots one of their men and makes him suffer to get others. The filmakers are trying to say that war is not as glorified as usual. This movie is similar in its intensions but different in the story lines. Many of the troops get killed like in SH5. But it is not trying to glorify war. That is why marry would like this film. It shows how young the kids are fighting and all the people lost in war.

Group
There are many times I have felt that I have been apart of a group. I think the most memorable is when I played football my senior year. We did everything together: Get up in the mornings to lift, practice, Play tough games, and even go swimming together. Football was a great bonding experience with the group of guys. When we got mad at eachother, we never yelled. And when we won, we celebrated together and not just celebrate an individual. We got to know eachother emensly. Not only did we have fun playing, but we also won. On my senior year we went to the third round of the playoffs and beat Mt. Horeb. Previously we lost to them the last to years in the first round. Football was a great experience and it was nice to be apart of such a great group. I hope that the group doesnt break up in the future.

Biblical References
Recently we have been reading many works with biblical references. Quite frankly I don't like them at all. They can be confusing and sometimes misinterpreted. I think some of the authors research too much and find in depth details that people don't catch on to. While reading, I personally am not thinking and connecting all these references the bible. For example Metamorphasis has a strong biblical referance but i didnt notice it untill Kunkle pointed it out. I mean the number 3 or something, Who Cares. Another is in the gospel according to mark. The author tried to hard to make it into a biblical reference. He had to sneek in all the names from the bible and other events. So in the future I do not plan on thinking about biblical references while i am reading.

True West
I loved the movie true west. I thought it was very original and at times very humorous. While watching the movie I would have never made the connection to the metamorphasis. But looking back on it I see that they really switch roles. I found it very interesting how the play included modernism in it like kunkle said. Like why does the mom come home with thinking that picaso is in town? Mainly why picaso. Overall I think that it is a great play that should be continued to be played. I think one thing that i would like to see is a movie on metamorphasis and compare it with the true west movie.

Metamorphasis Reference
I know we talked about the reference to Frued in class, but I just wanted to expand on it a little more. On page 36 it says, "He was holding himself very erect, dressed in a tight fitting blue uniform with gold buttons, the kind worn by messengers at banking concerns...darted...peircing. Talking about the father of gregor. I think this has a large symbolism to a penis and in the days that kafka was writing, Sigmund Frued came out with his pychoanilitical theory and he believed that a penis symbolized power and anything described or shaped in a penis symbolizes power. In this passage I believe that the father is described as a penis to symbolize that he is in power now and that he gregor is not.

Choice novel reaction
Recently I read the book The Arrival, and yes it is a picture book. I never knew that it would be so difficult to interrpret different pictures. You really have to look at every detail in the pictures and inturrpret what you think. Especcially in this because there are so many different fictional things that can be interrpreted in to different ways. Overall I thought the book was kinda interesting but at the same time i found it very confusing.

Reaction To Bartleby The Scrivener
I thought the story "Bartleby the scrivener" was a very odd story. It depicted what seemed to be a stubborn man, Bartleby, who grew worthless thoughout the story. He was always telling the narrator his preferences and this put the boss in a tough position and he wanted to get ride of him. I thought the funniest part of the story was when everyone in the office by using the word prefer, and they started talking like Bartleby. Overall I thought the story was very sad because Bartleby was a great scrivener without a place to belong and in that case he dies figuratively. Then he gets placed in jail and dies for real. That to me has a very simbolic meaning, which means he was no longer needed and in that case he ceased to exist.
